An order for super light cases required with a very short lead time to carry aircraft servicing related parts, presented such a challenge that protective cases expert Zero Cases (UK) Limited used all of its 35 years of case making expertise to provide a solution for a brand new customer.

The company Didsbury Engineering Co. Ltd, specialise in lifting and handling solutions for aircraft maintenance.

“We were given the challenge of building a case which had to be very light, robust and able to meet Didsbury Engineering’s aerospace related demands ”, explained Mike Dimmack, UK Plant Manager. "The dimensions were 1.5m x 1.1m x 0.85m. The case made of aluminium, needed to be strong, durable and the internal layout was specifically designed to meet the industry sector leading product to be transported ”.

Mr Dimmack said that Zero Cases (UK) Limited by innovative design combined with both Zero’s experience and the use of unique Zero processes created the case with minimal joints, parts and fittings in order to reduce the weight and meet the design scope.

The company developed the case by enhancing an existing design, rolling the sheet aluminium and extending the design around the products the case would be protecting.

Didsbury Engineering Co. Ltd who expressed their delight with the solution with the following quotation:

” I have been speaking to Clive Scott, our Technical Director and he is impressed with the cases you have supplied. We would like to know whether you have a sales representative in our area that would be able to call in and discuss other possible applications for your boxes? A lot of our equipment is supplied in flight cases with CNC foam inserts and it would be interesting to find out what prices/options you could offer us" stated Mark Hinchliffe – (Design Engineer) Didsbury Engineering Co.
